Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
At Yorkley School, ALL pupils' needs are placed at the centre of their experiences - staff get to know your children well and understand that parents/carers play a vital role in their child's development and education. The school uses its best endeavors to work in partnership with families and the Local Authority to ensure access to the right support at the right time.
All children at Yorkley School, including those with SEND, are valued and respected as individuals. We recognise that pupil well-being is vital for learning to be effective. Our staff are dedicated to identifying emerging SEND early so that barriers to learning can be removed and the right level of support is in place.
We have high expectations for ALL pupils and we believe in challenging everyone to achieve their full potential in both academic and non-academic activities regardless of ability, background and gender. Class Teachers provide an ambitious and engaging curriculum whilst emphasising the importance of inclusion through making adaptions to the learning environment and experience where needed.
Yorkley School encourages ALL children to share their successes outside the school and these are regularly acknowledged in assemblies and newsletters. Extra-curricular activities are provided to enable pupils to develop their individual talents. In the classroom, our teachers also ensure that the ablest pupils are set tasks that they will find challenging but will also inspire them.

Yorkley School has an Inclusion Team (SENDCo & Family Support Worker) as well as two named Governors responsible for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Children in Care (CiC).
They ensure that the school's SEND and CiC policies work within the guidelines of the Code of Practice (2014), the Children and Families Act 2014, the Equality Act 2010, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 as well as other policies within the school.
Our Inclusion Team are also Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and Mrs Wright is the school's Designated Teacher (CiC & PCiC).
